Stanford U10’s played three hard fought games and got better as the morning progressed. The playing conditions at Brentwood were awful with thick mud covering a postage stamp sized pitch. The first game v Brentwood ended in a 20 points to 5 loss, with James Brown providing a consolation try. In the second game, Stanford beat Upminster B in a close encounter 10 points to 5. The Stanford scorers were Nathan Hickey and Jamie Lake. Stanford seemed to save their best rugby for their last game and comfortably beat Upminster A 15 points to 0. Jamie Lake scored another 2 tries and Nathan Hickey got the third. A big thank you to those parents and supporters who braved the elements to make it a fun morning.
Stanford under 9’s played Brentwood A in heavy, muddy conditions in their first match and were outgunned up front, turning the ball over too often. The home side started better and had more desire, and ran out 20-0 winners. In Stanford’s second match they started to play better rugby, and drew 5-5 against Upminster, with a try from prop Connor Gillam. Stanford faced Upminster in their third match, and again drew 5-5, Dominic McDonald scoring a breakaway try and running the full length of the pitch. In their final match, a tired Stanford under 9’s produced by far their best performance of the day to beat Brentwood B 25-0. Try scorers were Dominic McDonald 2, Jacob Dennis, Liam Page and a storming run from Ryan Quinn.
Stanford under 7’s played four games and drew 35-35 against Brentwood. Scorers were: Albert Aldeham, Daniel McAllister 2, Robin Hughes 2 and Liam Brunger 2. They then drew 20-20 with Upminster B, scorers were: Harry Taylor, Alfie Drum, Daniel McAllister 2. They then lost 40-50 in an exciting match against an unbeaten Upminster A side, with tries from Bradley Oakley 2, Robin Hughes 3, Albert Aldeham 2 and Jack Ervine. In their last match, they lost 5-20 to Upminster C, Stanford’s try scorer was Harry Taylor.
