Stanford sent all age groups from under 7 to under 12 to the Chingford Festival and had a successful day.

Stanford under 7’s won their group with maximum points, winning all three games. Their first game against Eton Manor ended 25-15, with tries from Daniel McAllister, Jack Ervin, Robin Hughes, Albert Aldham and Callum Jones. They then turned over Essex Champions Upminster 20-15, with tries from Robin Hughes 2, Albert Aldham and Sam Egar. Next up were local rivals Basildon, who were beaten by Stanford 20-5, with tries from Robin Hughes, Callum Jones, Sam Egar and Albert Aldham.
In the Semi-Final, Stanford won 25-20 against the hosts Chingford with tries by Robin Hughes, Callum Jones, Sam Egar 2 and Albert Aldham.
The Final against Maldon, was a disappointment for the local lads, with Maldon winning by 50-20, although the result did not do Stanford justice.

Stanford under 8’s, having only being formed a few weeks ago, were not expecting too much, but got a good result in their first match, beating Chingford B by 30-25. They were then unlucky to lose out to Chingford A by 25-30. In their final group match, Stanford lost 20-30 to Maldon, with tries from Dan O’Flaherty 2, Josh Goshmanski and Bradley Oakley.
This meant they were through to the Plate Final against Chingford B. Stanford started poorly, and were losing 5-15 at half time. In the second half, Stanford fought back well to win 25-20, with tries from Dan O’Flaherty 3, Bradley Oakley and Liam Brunger.

Stanford under 9’s started well and blew their opponents away in their first match and led 10-0 only to let their opponents Eton Manor back into the match and snatch victory by 10-15. Tries by James Kitchen and Dominic McDonald. In the second game they let their heads drop and lost to eventual winners Upminster by 0-30. In the third pool match they raised their game to comfortably beat Basildon 15-0, with tries from Sean Bunney and James Kitchen 2.
This left Stanford in the plate Semi-Final against Maldon, and they came through by 10-5, with two tries by James Kitchen.
In the Plate Final, fatigue and depleted numbers due to injuries led to a 0-10 loss to the home side Chingford.

Stanford under 10’s suffered from a shortage of players and despite a big effort from the players, lost all four games: Chingford 0-20; Finchley 0-30; Maldon 10-20 and Eton Manor 0-20. Scorers were Tristan Barry and Alex Mayger.

Stanford under 11’s were also short of players, but fought manfully. In the first match they lost a tight game against Chingford by 5-10, with a try from Geoff Smith. They produced a terrific performance to beat Harlow 15-10, with tries from Jamie Lake and James Brown. In their final match they came up against Essex Champions Upminster, and had no answer to a team on top of their game, and lost 45-0.

Stanford under 12’s were caught napping in their first game against hosts Chingford, which they lost 10-0. They only just woke up in their next game against Harlow to draw 5-5, with Jay Ingle scoring Stanford’s try.
This put Stanford in the Plate Final against Upminster. Stanford worked hard in this game and took an early lead only for Upminster to fight back and level the score. Stanford managed to score in the dying minutes to win 10-5. Scorers were Jay Ingle and Jake Barrand.
