On Saturday, the boys and girls visited Lowestoft & Yarmouth Rugby Club and received a great reception from their hosts.

In the two under 7 and 8 matches, Stanford lent several players to an inexperienced home side. The Stanford players were victorious and scored 21 tries between them! Scorers were: Dan O’Flaherty 5, Robin Hughes 3, Josh Goshmanski 3, Alfie Drum 2, Liam Brunger 2, Sam Egar 2, Callum Jones, Callum Lennox, Dan McAllister and Harry Taylor.

Stanford under 11’s played a good Yarmouth outfit and just lost out in a hard physical contest. In a match that was noteworthy for the intensity of the tackling and for ferocious rucking and mauling, the home side came out on top by 14-0.

The under 12’s didn’t travel over 100 miles to lose, and with everyone giving 100% Stanford came out clear winners against their hosts by 26-0. Tries were scored by: Brad Burrows, Emily Scott, Jamie Douglas and Liam Blackman, conversions by Brad Burrows (2) and Jake Barrand. Player of the day was Liam Blackman.

The under 13’s struggled against a big home side in the first half and were several tries down at half time. In the second half, the Stanford tourists came back strongly to almost snatch the result. Final score: 37-32 to the hosts. Tries scored by Rhys Smith-Allen 2, Darryl O’Connell and Ryan Downes.

On Sunday morning, Stanford descended on a friendly, welcoming Beccles Rugby Club.

The under 7’s had two games, first beating Southwold 25-5 and drawing their second match against Beccles 15-15. Scorers were: Alfie Drum 5, Callum Jones 2 and Sam Egar.

The under 8’s won their first match against Beccles 30-10 and their second match against a Beccles/Southwold side by 30-25. Scorers for Stanford were: Dan O’Flaherty 8, Josh Goshmanski 2, Sam Moran and Liam Brunger.

Stanford under 9’s played two games on Sunday against a very big, mature and physical Beccles team. Stanford lost the first game 15-5 with Hooker Ryan Quinn scoring for the tourists. The Essex boys narrowly lost the second encounter 10-5 with George Taylor scoring a well deserved try after being denied moments before. It was a great effort from all considering the late nights and early starts.

The under 12’s proved to be the better side by winning 49-7 against Beccles. Try scorers were: Jake Barrand 3, Captain Emily Scott 2, Jamie Douglas and Joe Meadows. Conversions by: Brad Burrows 3, Jake Barrand 2, Liam Blackman and Jack Scott. Player of the day was David Tester. Special thanks to Geoff Smith, Alice Wright, John Jones, Jamie Lake and Mark Sullivan.

After the matches were played each day, Hanging Judge Jackson and Father Dennis held court and various penalties were handed out for crimes committed by the tourists.

In all, the tourists scored 58 tries on tour!!
