The U8 and U12 teams travelled to major club Barking on Sunday, for some enjoyable and high quality matches.

The U12’s had a great result against Upminster, running out 10-5 winners, Craig Downes and Ben Street scoring the tries. They then came up against a well drilled Barking side and lost 15-0.

According to coaches Kyran McDonald and Dennis Quinn, the U8’s played superbly, beating Barking 25-15, who they had previously lost to this season. They then drew 40-40 with Upminster and lost 30-25, again to Upminster, though they were unlucky with some decisions. Try scorers were: Dominic McDonald 6, James Kitchen 4, Dan O’Flaherty 3, Sean Bunney 3 and George Taylor 2. Special mention must go to man of the match Dominic McDonald, who both defended and attacked with equally devastating effect.

Meanwhile, the U9/U10 and U11 sides went to another major Essex club, Southend, and came up with tremendous performances.

The U11’s overpowered Southend in a one sided contest, 52-0. Try scorers were Nathan Hickey, Bradley Burrows, Jay Ingle, David Tester, Lewis Tomlinson, Jack Griestel two, and hooker Lloyd Young scored with a great run from halfway. Man of the match was Liam Blackman. Conversions scored by Jay Ingle (4), Jack Griestel and Lewis Tomlinson.

Stanford U9/10s were superb this weekend showing a dazzling display of running rugby at Southend Rugby Club. The pace of Stanford’s young backs was just too much for Southend to cope with. Winger Jamie Lake was in particularly good form running in no less than 6 tries! Outside half James Brown continued his scoring ways with 2 tries and hooker Ryan Edgeway completed the scoring for the day to make the final score 45 to 15. Southend competed well despite the one sided score-line and were rewarded with 3 of their own tries.

Next week there is training and in a fortnights time Stanford Minis entertain the strong Eton Manor RFC at Stanford Recreation Ground.
