Stanford U8’s struggled in their first match at Ilford Wanderers, against their hosts. Too many mistakes allowed their opponents to grab a 20-20 draw, when Stanford were clearly the better side. Dominic McDonald scored two tries, with one each for Connor Lalieu and George Taylor. Stanford then turned it on against Wanstead, scoring 8 tries and keeping a clean sheet. Some beautiful passing and finishing saw an excellent performance end with the score at 40-0. Scorers were: Dominic McDonald 2, James Kitchen 2, Dan O’Flaherty, Sean Bunney, George Taylor and Liam Page scored his first try in his debut as captain. The boys can’t wait for contact rugby next season.

Stanford U9/10's battled against the elements of wind and rain and a strong Ilford side to eventually win 15-5. It started brightly with a try straight from the kick off from outside half Nathan Hickey. Ilford came back with a try from their big forwards but then Stanford took control. Stanford tackled well to stop numerous Ilford attacks and the forwards built a good platform to launch two more assaults on the Ilford line. It was Hickey again that weaved his way over to get his hat-trick for the day. It was a good all round team effort and a confidence booster ahead of next weeks’ final fixture at the Eton Manor Festival.

The U11’s had a solid, determined win against a much bigger Wanstead U12’s team 15-5, with tries from Sam Hawkes, Jamie Douglas and Jay Ingle.

Stanford U12’s were superb against both Ilford and Wanstead. In their first game, Ilford had no answer to the strong-running Stanford backs, and despite having a much larger pack, the hosts were second best by 35 points to 19. Scorers were: Ben Street, Daniel Sullivan, Mitchell Stanley, Emily Scott and David Woofit. Ben Street kicked 5 conversions. Wanstead didn’t know what hit them as they were taken apart by great team performance, in a one-sided game which ended 45-5 to Stanford. Try scorers were: Sean Matthews, Tom Meadows, Luke Hawkes, Liam Power, Dean O’Connell, Jack Payne, Jamie Cole, Matt Dockings and Joe Wright.

Next fixture is at the Eton Manor Festival on Sunday 25th April, the big finale to the season.
